New Endorsements

In an exerpt from a new press release from the Connaughton campaign, Sean Connaughton today recieved the support of Sen. Ken Stolle, Circuit Court Clerk Tina E. Sinnen, City Treasurer John T. Atkinson, City Council members James L. Wood, Peter W. Schmidt and Ron A. Villanueva, and Sheriff Paul Lanteigne. Also, on a side note, Bill Bolling will be holding a fundraiser in Connaughton's home county with Jim Gilmore this weekend.

I find it interesting the degree to which Bolling is relying on Gilmore. This goes back a ways - Bolling produced Gilmore in a joint appearance at the Republican advance in 2003. I don't think Gilmore's flame burns brightly in most parts of Northern Virginia. Gilmore's affection for Bolling may be driven by hoping for as weak a ticket as possible for the GOP in 2005. This would clear the way for an attempted return in 2009. Frankly, I'd rather win all three spots this year. I think Connaughton brings far more strength to the ticket than would Bolling. I'm not certain, moreover, that Kilgore will have the oomph to drag along a weak LG candidate.

Truer words were never spoken. Kilgore needs Connaughton on the ticket. If Sean wins the primary, look for a Republican sweep. If not, things will be very interesting in November.
