Post Weighs In

Today the Washington Post ran a story on Sean Connaughton for the last profile piece for the statewide campaigns. The interesting assertion within the story is that the Davis machine might live or die based on this race. I do not entirely buy that way of looking at it, but Mr. Shear always seems to be smarter than me. So, I guess we will see what happens here. Poli Amateur over at Commonwealth Watch weighs in on this one as well. Chris Jenkins wrote a piece on Bolling as well a few weeks back.

I haven't sensed that the Davis machine is fully engaged for Sean. I don't interpret that as any lack of enthusiasm for Sean, but more of a reflection on an awkwardness about what the "Davis Machine" wants to be when it grows up. Davis himself seems to be making big decisions about his political future. Part of what's going on is that Davis and the poeple around him think highly of Sean and perhaps have mroe confidence in him than the realities of a bruising, largely substance-deprived VA primary justify.
