Alternative Universe PWC BOCS

I was checking out the now defunct "Thread that will never die" (as soon as it earned that nickname, it did just that.) There was an interesting post by Mitch's Wife on Aug. 4 that posed the following question:

Looking back at these posts, I notice that Mr. Riley askes a good question about the PWC GOP farm team. Eliminating all incumbents, who would make up the seven members of your "alternative universe" GOP ticket?
Whether it be a special election, '07 or beyond, who do you see filling these seats in a so-called "Alternate Universe"? Here are the 8 seats and the current officeholders with their party. Board of County Supervisors Chairman (At-Large) - Connaughton – R Brentsville Dist. – Covington – R Coles Dist. – Nohe – R Dumfries Dist. – Caddigan – R Gainesville Dist. – Stirrup – R Neabsco Dist. – Jenkins – D Occoquan Dist. – Stewart – R Woodbridge Dist. – Barg – D Feel free to fill the entire Board or just the seats that you like. COMING SOON: Two more "Alternative Universe" threads -- one on the other PW county offices as well as one on the General Assembly delegation. For now, though, stick to the topic at hand.

Does the question assume that one of the sitting district supervisors could become chairman in this alternative universe? Or are we assuming that an airplane has hit the McCoart building on a Tuesday evening and we must have eight NEW members?

Nohe/Caddigan/Covington for Chairman. As long as Stirrup, and Stewart don't get the nomination.

I think Alex Vanegas will run, now I don't know which district he lives in.

Mike May again for Occoquan Supervisor. I saw on the PWCRC website he was recently headlining an event with Sean and Michelle McQuigg.

I hope Connaughton puts somone up aginst Stirrup .

Once Barg loses Delegate, she'll just stay in her seat.

May in Occoquan
Venegas in Coles
Beyer or Riley in Dumfries

No clue where most other live such as Smith, Danziger, Fitzsimmonds, etc. and don't really know the Dem players.

Anon 5:29 -- Yes, a sitting district supervisor could become chairman under this scenario.

Depending on who succeeds Sean:

May, Venegas and Riley would be excellent choices in their districts. Not sure who might run in Woodbridge (Robinson?). I'll leave Neabsco question to the other conspirators, for now.

Jean Smith.... forgot her.

Add Smith to Neabsco district.

What about Steve Keen? Is he a player any more? He's in Woodbridge and there was always a theory floating around that Hilda would anoint him when she was done. Of course that was before is loss in the SB Chairman race.

I sure wish Stafford BOCS was as interesting as PWC - of course we've nominated Paul Milde in Aquia and he just remembered that he was arrested in the '80s for a little coke possession charge. He's trying hard to spin it to make it sound like a good thing. Good Luck!

By the way!

Julie Lucas for Neabsco!

Hirons 7:17 p.m. --

If nominated for Chairman, I will not run. If elected Chairman, I will not serve.

Is that Shermanesque enough for you?

OK, here it goes...

Brentsville - Ron Burgess
Coles - Ernie Gonzales
Dumfries - Jane Beyer
Gainesville - Steve Danziger
Neabsco - Jean Smith
Occoquan - Mike May or John Gray
Woodbridge - Denita Ramerez
Chairman - Mitch Cumstein

Mitch's Wife:

Interesting. Did you folks come up with that list over the poker table on Saturday night? Sorry we missed it.

As far as "Cumstein for Chairman" goes, I have much higher aspirations. I think Governor Cumstein has a much nicer ring to it.

Denita in Wdbg - are you kidding?

The TC Sqaud can be your advisors.

Riley- Commissioner of Public Safety

TC- Commissioner of Education

Riley- General Counsel/Solicitor General

JMS- Commissioner of Revenue

I can see how the administration can change the future of the Commonwealth now. Can we make room for the Blue Dog?

Three arguments fo Denita for Woodbridge Supervisor:

She is a U.S. citizen.
She's not Hilda Barg.
She's not Steve Keen.

And back to Hirons' point, if Hilda were to leave, who would Hilda support to replace herself? It wouln't be Keen at this point (if he was EVER REALLY in the running in the first place).

She backed some guy for Woodbridge School Board last time.... I can't remember his name. Maybe Russell Bryant? He's kind of quiet, which is not helpful for a politician.

Dumfries District is PWC's "Little Ireland." Connaughton, Caddigan and Riley all hail from there. I say each one moves up a notch -- Connaughton vacates the chairmanship for State Senate, Caddigan moves up from Vice-Chair to Chairman and Riley moves up from his HOA to fill the Caddigan district seat.

The State Senate would be a definite move down for the Chairman of the second largest county in the Commonwealth. I don't care what Celtic provenance he claims. Irish pride dictates that he move up or out. The quazmire that is the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia is no place for a person of this quality.
