67th Update

The race in the 67th is already complicated and strange... Then Last night the ground game got a little more intense Chuck Caputo did a sign blitz , and Eby, the libertarian also did a rather large sign blitz. Nice looking signs. Eby's presence in this race seems that it could only hurt Craddock. The Craddock campaign has been staying ahead of Caputo's on the ground, and now has loads more volunteers out than Caputo(considering Caputo pays all his door to door operations). It appears they also added signs to the 67th last night. Craddock's winning the grassroots hands down, I just hope he can overcome these minor speedbumps on his way to victory in November. This race is going to be going strong down to the end. UPDATE:

I fail to see how a sign blitz by opposing campaigns is "complicated and strange" ... interesting, perhaps.

i have been saying this race is going to be closer than everyone (NLS especially) have been saying... It's nice to see someone agreeing with me...

Caputo is gonna make a run but this is in no way a guruntee of victory

I just got home and it looks like Caputo just did one hell of a blitz.

Someone took down a bunch of Caputo signs on Stringfellow, and I heard from one of their "canvassers" that they're going to re-blitz.

I have first hand knowledge that for every paid person there are now 10 volunteers working HQ and canvasing. I don't know why you assume that only the youngsters will turn out to help in a delegate race like this, most of Caputo's voluteer team are well established business and community leaders who are out there walking with him and helping him collect big donations. Caputo according to his resume is retired DoD civilian where his SES government rank was equivalent to that of a military general and he rose to that position over 30 years. That means a lot to the govies that live in the 67th.

And remember, there are good reasons to have held off on the sign blitz until the last grass cutting which knocks them all down.

Craddock keeps complaining that Caputo is running a negative campaign all I've seen is the truth so far, he should look in a mirror and realize that his campaign against Reese was completely negative and certainly this last BS about Caputo wanting to raise taxes 9 BILLION $s is even down right stupid. Thats 1/3 of the entire state budget. I've been following both candidates statements and content and so far I have never seen anything that Craddock has raised as even having the slightest bit of distortable truth to it. However, his insistance on stupid mis-representations will get him roasted in any public forum where people understand his youthful exhuberance doesn't make up for irrational stupid accusations.

oh, one more thing I noticed, the Caputo signs don't say Democrat anywhere. Craddock's and Eby's both have their straight line party affiliations on them, that explains why several of my republican and independent neighbors have now put only Caputo signs in their front yards no Kaine or other democratic signs. I know personally over a dozen "dyed in the wool" republicans who have either donated to Caputo or they are now volunteering. So this BS about Craddock grass roots only seems to apply to those below the age of 30 for the most part. The older farts like me never voted in primaries and thats how Reese really lost. And us old farts have a very bad habit as far Chris is concerned, we actually think things through, because we have lived through the tough times when our own exhuberance cloaded our judgement and now we look for those that can get results in the two months the assembly actually meets instead of watching someone learn how to do it at our expense.

You are just simply incorrect, and misleading.

Caputo is paying most, if not all his door to door operations. I have close friends within the campaign.

Business community? They are behind Craddock

Well then your close friends are wrong because they don't include all the volunteers that are there every weekend and now almost every night walking with Chuck himself. As for the business community, Craddock and Caputo interviewed in Richmond for the "Virginia Free" rankings which goes to who is the most business friendly irrelevent of party..... Chuck scored highest in the entire state and Craddock was second lowest from the bottom of ALL candidates as to their stands on the issues for businesses. Thats all it took for my bosses to kick a financial commitment to Chuck some time this month. http://www.vafree.com/ The last election Steve Shannon came up highest and got their support as the most business friendly and it supposedly helped enormously. How can any business with a grey haired senior executive trust a 27 year old who has never even had a real job let alone a management position. His only job with the school district is that of a substitute teacher with no real classes according to the few teachers that I talked to that even know him. As for his being a knowledgeable parent, isn't his kid only 1 year old and not quite in any school yet??? so he doesn't qualify as a parent with a school age child as his handout I got in my front door claims.

Last Saturday on the Cable access channel 10 live show "Road to Richmond", Mike Lane, the political consultant to the Republican party, who I know well and respect a lot, I believe he summerized it real well, he said the first rule is to get elected no matter what you have to say or do, the end justifies the means. I guess that means lying doesn't matter even when you are running on a Christian values oriented platform. I'm sorry even though thats politics and reality, it still bites me hard to think I might have to trust someone who sends a young kid with a tape recorder to the Caputo Kick-off back in July and has him lie about his name, address and contact info just to get something he would have gotten by telling the truth anyway. Then takes those recordings and twists them into the 9 Billion $ lies and then brags about it to the rest of the campaign workers at Craddock HQ.
