The Irony Of It All

Supervisor Hilda Barg recently sent out a mailer claiming she has never supported using tax-payer money on illegal immigrant day labor centers. The mailer also claimed that Delegate Frederick was soft on immigration. The Town of Herndon has Elden St., and Alabama Avenue. Prince William has Route One. This is a popular hangout for day laborers on the Route One Corridor. Don't you just love the irony of it all?

You beat me to it, TC. I was going to snap a picture the other day, but didn't get the chance. Except I was going to do it out in front of that Mexican restaurant next to the 7-11 across from Marumsco Plaza on Route 1. The restaurant must have had 40 day laborers outside at the time and there were about 5 Hilda signs all around.

Where does Hilda stand on illegal immigration?

So tell me: you're such big anti-immigration folks: why didn't you just citizen arrest them or call the feds? Were you worried that they might turn out to be citizens a little peeved that "Mexicanness" is your guide to who is an American and who isn't?

Who said anti-immigration?

Illegal immigration is just that, ILLEGAL.

Forgive me for wishing that our laws are follwed through.

We don't citizen's arrest them because it is a federal, not state crime. The county doesn't arrest them because we can't hold them, we turn them over to the feds but the feds have said they don't want them. So it is a waste of time.

If we make it a state crime (and it passes constitutional muster) then we could arrest them and keep them, although who really wants to do that? What we want is to send people who have illegally invaded our country back to their own countries where they belong.

At least so long as they aren't cutting our grass at the time.... :->

I'm surprised nobody is laughing about the "never supported tax-payer money" comment. She asked for a vote to get state and federal tax money, where does she think that comes from?

BTW, if Hilda really didn't ask for county money, but asked for state money, isn't that an important point since she is running for a STATE-WIDE office where she will be able to vote for state money to be used?
