Moving to the Center?

Received an e-mail from the Bill Bolling campaign regarding their two new radio ads, and "experience" ad. The e-mail states she doesn't share the values of rural Virginians. Do we in suburbia not also share values? The ads are very well put together, and his values ad spends more than 75% of the time attacking Leslie Byrne on her values(or lack there of). I do disagree with homosexual marriage, but the tone and forcefulness of the quote , "So liberal Leslie Byrne supports allowing HOMOSEXUALS to marry in Virginia" , sounded as though the anti-Christ had arrived on earth. The ironic thing is Bolling's move to the center. Throughout the primary, and continuing until a few weeks ago, Bolling has been a "strong experienced conservative" who had the "background, knowledge, and experience" to be Lieutenant Governor. Now all of a sudden in Bolling's comparison piece with Leslie Byrne, she is labeled the extremist, and he is the "common-sense" conservative. Although overall the comparison piece was well put together, sorry to say..I have two critiques of it. Whats wrong with the first line? Bill Bolling Will protect our right to work law. Leslie Byrne Wants to repeal the right to work law and force workers to join unions against their will. Virginian-Pilot 6/16/06 Thats right..2006 is Next year. Typo? Or a quote she never said? Also-Bolling states that he Supported a Constitutional Amendment to prevent highway funds from being spent for other purposes. That's a good line for Northern Virginia voters, but the fact remains that Bolling voted for over 300 million dollars to be removed from the "transportation trust-fund" when he voted for the state-budget. Thank God Leslie is a communist.

Yawn...

Am I the only one who cares absolutely nothing about this race? I'll never vote for Byrne because she's too liberal. I'll never vote for Bolling because he's a (insert vulgar body part here). And no matter who wins, they will spend four irrelevent years as LG only to have absolutely no chance in 2009 to move up the ladder.

You had better vote for one or the other. You know full well whichever of these embarrassments wins, he/she will feel entitled to the Gov spot next time. Because I'm a loyal Republican, I'm voting for Leslie, just to spare us from having to clean up the mess in '09. I have no doubt we can beat her if we run a mediocre or better candidate next time around. But if Bolling wins, we're going to have to go through a really stinky internal fight to clear him away in primaries next time around. My dad's in the same dilemma, but he's having trouble with the idea of voting for Leslie, having actively opposed her in the past. I say he's a wuss and ought to do what's right, no matter how distasteful. I keep telling him, this isn't our fault. This is where RPV put us. They got us into this mess. We'll just have to vote our way out of it.

Well said, Uppity Daughter. As much as it may offend my sensibilities, you've sold me. Leslie gets my vote.

Note to RPV: Stop screwing with the more sane and rational of us. We'll fight back.

Uppity Daughter - My sentiments EXACTLY! My entire family will be voting for Leslie Byrne. It took some explanation for a few to see the light, but they finally did. I know that it will pain them greatly to pull the lever next to Byrne, but it must be done. She will NEVER win governor if she runs. And we CAN'T have Bolling as our governor candidate 4 years from now or we will go down in flames to the democrats. Thus, a vote for Byrne now, will get us the governorship now (Kilgore) and in the future (perhaps McDonnell). A vote for Bolling will just get us a big nasty mess and a likely loss 4 years from now.

The only tng worse than that papist, Kaine is that soulless atheist Byrne. Bill Bolling would make a fine Lietenant Governor this year and a better governor in '09 because, as a God fearing, America loving, Christian Soldier, he will notbe afraid to kill criminals and send them to hell so that he can save God the extra work when their time would have come otherwise.

Bill Bolling stopped the papist Connaton, he will stop the atheist Byrne, and along with Jerry Kilgore he will put the King James Bibnle BACK IN OUR CLASSROOMS!

ROFLMAO! Please tell me that Marty's Oversized Melon is pulling a Pastor John on us here. Either way, it's one of the funniest posts I've seen in a while. Come on, M.O.M., aren't you gonna attack the homosexuals too?

whoa, i didnt think it was a sin to be Catholic. come on now, those are the kind of comments that divide the party. m.o.m., i respect your loyalty to bolling, and i do believe he is a great public speaker who rallies the base, but i do not think he would be as strong a contender as say, mcdonnell in '09. although, i dont know if i could take voting for byrne.
i would also like to add, that having known chairman sean connaughton, i will always respect his beliefs on abortion (100% pro-life) and being compassionate, which all comes from his catholicism.
