Davis on the White House

Tom Davis (R-VA): “[I’m] very disappointed in Libby, and the White House, and the vice president and the president. They should have taken care of this a long time ago. They should have done their own investigation. They’re going to get very little sympathy on Capitol Hill, at least from me…They brought this on themselves" October 29, 2005 I am a big fan of Congressman Davis, but I disagree with him here. Nothing has been proven yet, and to come to conclusions is to agree with Dick Durbin and Harry Reid.

OH MY GOSH!!!

'Too Conservative' is disagreeing with Tom Davis!? I've got to go to church and repent, because this is clearly a sign that the end-times are near!

The President could have gotten to the bottom of this in 30 minutes if he had had a mind to. The best thing for him to do would have been to tell all his staff up to and including the Vice President, that he needed to know by 1600 hours on July __ (the day that the Novack column ran) who made the disclosure. It does not seem to have been a crime, but it was dumb. If it had been dealt with immediately, Libby would not be in the fix he's in, and the Administration would have taken less heat. I can't imagine a strong, tough President (think Ike) not doing som immediate butt-kicking and damage control. We all, including the President, would have been better off.

TC, Davis has seen what this issue is doing to the Virginia GOP right now. Kilgore is in the dumps, and we have several local House candidates who are on the brink of defeat. One thing that keeps showing up in the polls is the national situation and Bush's low popularity as a result of all this stuff. Proven or not, Bush could've headed off this whole thing but chose not to. That's left Davis and many other Republicans to face midterm elections where running as Republicans could be the end of them.
