From the Door

Chucks 72 hour so far has been very poorly run. The campaign has been wasting volunteers on Craddock's street, and has been going to Craddock supporters. The Craddock campaign has been more direct with their 72 hour approach. Craddock has had dozens of volunteers out. I have yet to see the ticket/RPV people out. What is going on with the Kilgore campaign?

A nice GOP GOTV guy walked up to me in the yard on Saturday to make sure I had voted or will vote. He seemed very organized, had a list of the endangered Republicans in my neighborhood and seemed to know that I was a voter/donor to the GOP. He also had the incredible wisdom to have a Kilgore and a McDonnell sticker on his shirt, but NO BOLLING STICKER. I asked him how he knew my feelings on this. His answer was tactful diplomacy: "just lucky, I guess."

Very smart idea.

After Tuesday...we're going to have to rethink alot of our party.

"we're going to have to rethink alot of our party."...

But we won't. When our statewide ticket goes down, the party faithful will be there to yell, "The problem was that the ticket wasn't conservative enough. Next time, we need TRUE conservatives. That's what the voters REALLY want."

And I'll be wondering, "Then why did you people abandon George Fitch?"

The party faithful voted for the current ticket against the likes of Fitch and Connaughton.

Still-I have NO DOUBT that these two candidates would have let the state-wide, and delegates COAST to victory.

I agree about the true conservatives, but I do like Jerry.

Fitch and Connaughton were too conservative, to honest and too substantive for the primary voters. Northern Virginia continues to hide its potential electoral strength under a bushel. If it's close (one way or the other) folks are going to hve to think about why it is that we threw away strength in the face of an election that was important for the future of Virginia. I have enough respect for the general demographics of Virginia statewide to think that we'll take 2 out of 3 (not totally sure which ones). But little externalities here and there (e.g., a larger than expected turnout in Northern Virginia) could make a difference.

With such a devastating editoral piece to go negative with, why not? They already have the manpower to GOTV their supporters: why not peel off moderate Republicans as well?

The Post is not hot you peel off Repubs. If that was their thinking than the were thinking very poorly.
