The "What if...." game begins......

So, what if Sean Connaughton had been on the ticket as the LG candidate? Would that have helped Kilgore win PWC? Would have it helped him in other areas of NOVA? Or would Kilgore still have suffered the same fate based upon tactical campaign mistakes (the hard-hitting death penalty ads, etc.)? We'll never know for sure what Sean may have brought to the ticket. Anyone want to take bets on when Kaine commutes his first death sentence or tries to impose a moratorium on the death penalty in VA?

You took the words right out of my mouth Jim.

On Channel 8, Sean Connaughton's name was mentioned by the reporter standing at the Kilgore concession speech. His words were "if Sean Connaughton had won, he would have pulled Northern Virginia, and this would have been a different election"

I don't agree. I think voters consciously split their tickets, and I don't see how Connaughton gets that many folks back into the R camp for governor.

Did you see how Bolling's name is spelled on the PWC election site. Too funny. Bowling.

Leslie is a loon. She was bound to lose. Bolling was the default vote.

Kilgore is a wet noodle. I don't know if even Sean could have helped Kilgore's inept campaign. They ran rotten ads, and left the really good ones on the dog-gone website. Fools.

Does anyone think the GOP's involvement in the 2004 budget deal hurt Kilgore?

Nah. Budget didn't hurt.

anon 10:42-I spoke to dozens of Republicans today at the polls, and none were excited.

Our own County party was against many of the anti-taxers.

Connaughton would have brought it all together, no doubt. He would have brought Kilgore to a win in PWC, a big win in Loudoun, and maybe even a tie in Fairfax.

Yeah, Anon 11:41, those anti-taxers (all of whom won, incidentally) sure hurt Kilgore.

You guys in the Cult of Personality can keep deluding yourself about Connaughton. 'Fact is, when we stand up for principles, our candidates win. When we don't, they lose. And you're pining away for a candidate who has raised taxes by 50% on the average PWC homeowner simply doesn't help the party move forward. And by moving forward, I mean, to victory for candidates and principles, not -- as you apparently do -- for higher taxes, bigger government, and more spending. Which, incidentally, is what Tim Kaine means, too.

Jim
Seriously..what runs through your head sometime?

Principles? Like what...obviously the principles that the "conservative" Black, and Golden had did not resonate. You protected them 2 weeks ago, and now state they should have run on principles.

It amazes me the extent of your ignorance sometime. I respect your job, and I respect your opinion, but you are just can not see the light.

You will continue to lose elections, with Frederick, Marshall, and McQuiqq continuing to be challenged, unless you can come to the realization that Sean is not for bigger government.

I still believe that in a representative democracy, the elected official is supposed to always do what is best for his/her constituents. Sean has made some tough decisions, but he has always done what is right.

You spend to much time looking at one piece of the puzzle, and do not see an overall picture.

Think on this statement Jim-Connaughtons loss on June 14th, means Mark Warner could be our next President.

Jim Young is a big reason the Republican party is on the wane in Prince William. Through his past columns he became what most normal people hate about the party - loud, mean, offensive and small minded. People constantly say they don't like the "Jim Youngs" of the world and now we are all tarred with that feather. Thanks.
