$3 Billion to Rebuild Levees?

Does anyone know exactly into whose hands these funds will go? Will it be guided by the federal government in conjucntion with the Army Corps of Engineers? or will it go to the corrupt Louisiana state government? A few suggestions: Let the Corps do there job and determine how best to build the levee, as it should have been done previously. Next, do not allow any inspections or maintenance of the levee system be done by anyone who works for the city of New Orleans or the state of Lousiana. Normally I would say this is a state issue, but as the people of Louisiana and others in Hollywood who would throw a fit if the federal government did not fund this, I say fine. But let all oversight of this wasteful project be done by the Corps and the government so that at least it is done properly. I say that this project is wasteful because it is a waste of federal money that is just going to be wasted when another strong hurricane hits and a city that sits below sea level and between the gulf and a river, is obviously not going to sirvive in the long run, no matter how big or strong a levee you build.

I agree... Let the Corps do what they do best.

I don't know if it's a big waste. "The Don" Trump has already stated he would build in big ways if they get the levee fixed. I think others will follow if just one big money buster will take the chance. I don't think the rest of the country really knew what a mess the leaders of NO were or how impoverished the citizens are until this event. Maybe this is a good sign that things will move in a more positive direction now that the world is watching...

As long as the federal government is paying for it, they ought to just build a dome over the city so when the ocean catches up with it it will be ready.
