Big Turnout

Happy Birthday to Iraq! There is greater turnout in Iraq than there is here in the United States. Out of 15 mill eligible voters, early estimates are that about 10-11 mill voted. Turnout was so high, that some polling locations were ran short on ballots. How is it possible that these people can face bombs and drive-bys to go vote, and we are deterred by unpleasant weather? This is a great start to a new democracy, with almost 8,000 candidates running. Also, I last heard that there was no clear sweep of any a party, which will be good in deterring civil war because the government will represent all Iraqi's.

The Sunnis won't take to being a minority year after year.

but the point is, that no single party has formed a majority.

there are minorities in every country, so why assume that the sunnis in iraq wont be able to handle being a minority.

I heard that Leslie Byrne was running for something over in Iraq. Exit polls show her getting crushed.
