A local Christmas tradition goes dark this year

I've been meaning to post this since I read it the day after Thanksgiving:

Annual Bull Run Regional Park “Miracle of Lights” Cancelled (Fairfax Station, VA) November 23, 2005 - The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NVRPA) regrets to announce that the annual “Miracle of Lights” holiday display at Bull Run Regional Park will not be open for the 2005 holiday season. NVRPA was informed that the independent promoter of the annual light show is unable to mount the production this year. “We’re disappointed that the show won’t happen this year,” remarked NVRPA Executive Director Paul Gilbert. “Unfortunately we were informed too late in the season to seek another producer. We have been encouraged by the volume of calls and e-mails from local residents seeking information about the ‘Miracle of Lights’ and will make it a priority to offer a similar holiday themed feature in the near future” explained Gilbert. For more information or to learn more about other NVRPA facilities, visit our website at
This is a real shame since this was one of the most amazing light displays that I've ever seen. Year in and year out, they put on a great show with the proceeds going to charity. Here's hoping for a return of this tradition next year!
