Mass. Governor Skipping Re-Election in '06

Governor Romney is skipping re-election in 2006 in the hopes of a '08 run for President. Link to article. Having spent most of the summer and early fall working as an outside contractor for the Office of Governor in Massachusetts I sensed a lot of internal concern for his re-election chances. His office was in full campaign mode a year and half from his next Election Day. Much more frantic than any other Governor's office I've worked with. This move is smart for Mitt. He would have a very tough battle on his hands for re-election, and most likely would have suffered a political career ending defeat. However does a one-term Governor from the Northeast stand a chance in the '08 Republican primary? - - - -Not likely. Perhaps a dress rehearsal for the Office of Vice President of the United States?

Mitt would be a great candidate!

He would do well against the northeast senator who is the current frontrunner, although a lot could change ( with mark warner gaining ground).

How would a Romney/ Rice ticket do?

Agreed neocon.

He has been able to stand up to some of the ultra-liberalism thats taken place up there.
