PWC Board Debates

I am back from North Carolina... An article from the Gainesville Times shows an sharp ideological split on the PWC Board:

Thoughts?

UPDATE: After further research into the matter, I discovered that the above article was actually misleading. After the "compromise" both Supervisors Stirrup and Stewart voted against it, and also against establishment of the commission....

...go figure...

This is hardly an ideological spilt. It was a disagreement over the logistics ... and they COMPROMISED by the end. Let's not overplay this 'division' stuff now. A better clipping from the article would have been about what they were actually talking about ... the 18month study. That's interesting ... this selection is not.

TC, was the Tookie execution everything you thought it would be?? I hope you were able to contain your excitement.

Ah yes...the Williams execution.

I was not excited that he was executed, but I was glad that justice was upheld.

Was it just me, or did Stewart look dumb on this issue? I watched the rebroadcast of the Board meeting last night and it just seemed that Stewart and Covington were a little too closed minded. "I want to pick the commission so that it reflects my political agenda." It seemed to fly in the face of the whole idea behind the commission.

But that being said, I agree that this does not constitute a "sharp ideological divide" on the board. Just politics as usual.
