Trailer for Mel Gibson's new movie debuts on a significant date

Drudge Report (and Shaun Kenney) are linking to the trailer for the new Mel Gibson movie, "Apocalypto," which has the quote, "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within," from historian Will Durant. The film is set against the Mayan civilization 3,000 years ago and is filmed completely in the Mayan language. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the trailer for this movie appeared today, December 21. Seven years from today, December 21, 2012, the Mayan calendar ends. Why? Prediction of the Apocalypse or they just got tired of calculating their calendar so far out, I have no idea. But don't be surprised if you see the number of "Doomsdayers" increase between now and 2012, rivaling or exceeding those that were around for the big odometer rollover of 2000, between those pointing to this date, those viewing the seeming increase in natural disasters, and those looking at the prophecies of St. Malachy that gained attention following the death of Pope John Paul II earlier this year (basically stating that only a few Popes remain before The End). I'm just not sure I'm interested in a movie shot in Mayan, though.
