Google gets in bed with the Pinko Commies

So much for freedom. It seems that Google doesn't mind censorship if it means they can make a quick buck off the Chinese.

Doesn't access to a market with over a billion people in it justify any surrender of any principle?

Willis, I am surprised at you. I would have thought you would want a free flow of information for all.

Doesn't this decision make you doubt whether or not Google is filtering you too?

I trust that google will do what is in their best interests, not mine. I don't know why you would be surprised at this. They are a business, they want to make money.

I wondered about Google when I learned that Al Gore is a "Senior Advisor."

You are kidding! Gore is an advisor? Is he really inputting or just donating funds?

I'm not sure I'm ready to rally against Google. This gives the people more power than they had doesn't it? And don't think for a minute they won't figure out a way around the filters.... Even my teenager has figured those out.

I saw a great example. Go to the american and chineese google sites, select "image" on each, and type in "tienneman square".

You will see how pernicious censorship can be.

They have a right to do this. But don't expect me to sit quietly while they pretend to care about my privacy, and act so "noble" by denying the government statistical information of no practical consequence, especially when they are already SELLING that same data to the highest bidder.

I don't get the uproar. Why would you trust a corporation?? It seems like a stupid thing to do.

Not to mention a corporation run by a bunch of liberals.
