Light Blogging

Sadly blogging for me over the next two weeks will be light. My grandfather was diagnosed only a few weeks ago with cancer, and he died peacefully an hour ago at my home. In a day or so I will be traveling down to Arkansas for his funeral. A couple days after I get back I will be heading down to Texas to visit some family and check out Baylor University. I will try to do a few updates before I leave for Arkansas in a day or so, but the updates will be sporadic.

TC, i hope angels speed him home. God bless you and your family right now.

while you're probably feeling sadness and regret right now, i hope your heart is eased by the knowledge that you were blessed to have this many years with him and that you stepped up in a way that many people your age (and older) simply would not or could not have.

don't worry about the blogosphere; it'll be waiting whenever you get back.

willis!!

TC mentioned that his grandfather was suffering from both ailments and, as I had a grandmother with lung cancer whose official cause of death was "end stage renal disease," I'm assuming the cancer may have been what caused his organs to fail.

i'm with you a lot of times, w, but you should remove that post. political differences aside, TC deserves some respect and tact right now.

My sympathies and condolences. Cry not only tears of sorrow, but tears of joy for the time that you had together.

We'll keep the homefires burning here for you, TC.

TC,

Best wishes to you and your family. My wife lost her mother three weeks ago in a similar struggle to the one you posted about your grandfather in another thread, only in her case it was Ovarian Cancer. We will be praying.

I also hope you will still be able to exercise your right to vote in the special election in the 33rd (if you are in that district). I don't know if they have absentee voting in specials.

Sorry to hear that TC, may he rest in peace. Losing my grandpa was one of the toughest things I've gone through. I was blessed to have him around for 17 years and that is certainly more than some people. I hope you always cherish your memories of him.

Sorry Vincent...I know you two were close and this was expected but you had that very special time together in Europe. You'll forever cherish that. Have a safe trip and we'll get together when you are back.

TC, please accept my condolences for your recent loss. We can say what we want about suffering being over and your grandfather being in a better place, but none of that truly salves the pain of personal loss. May your pain be brief, and you and your family move on with only the happy memories of your grandfather.
