Eric Lundberg Chairman Again

Since the filling deadline has come and passed, Eric Lundberg will be Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee yet again. Now if Brian Murphy can win in Prince William ,and Jim Rich in the 10th-it'll be a good year for sensible Republicans.

Brian Murphy is not the candidate of sensible Republicans. Neither is Kopko, mind you. But sensible Republicans do not want to watch our party continue to erode into oblivion.

Congratulations, Eric Lundberg. A good man will continue in Fairfax. Now, that leaves Loudoun to complete the good NOVA GOP leadership group. I would hope and assume that Loudoun Chairman Randy Minchew will be seeking a third term. He has been the epoxy that has been holding together the Loudoun Republicans for four or so years now and seems to be one guy who can unify this rambunctious group. In light of the serious losses sustained by Delegate Black, Chris Craddock, and Mick Staton, the Loudoun Republicans need a centrist leader to get them back on the winning track.

Now we can start speculating on who will run for Fairfax Chairman in two years.

Jim Rich is history. We need someone who can turn-around the problems he's caused.

I don't know anything about Lundberg (never even met him), and all that Ruth says about him may be true. Apparently his deficiencies --- whatever they may be, and there may be none --- were not sufficient to cause anyone to challenge him.

No one wants to file now because they feel it's a thankless job. If it weren't for that, there might have been a challenger.

I really don't see how everyone seems to think Lundberg has done such a swell job. There no publications from the FRC, the website has not been updated since November (which, in case any one forgot, is when we got slaughtered in the elections). Furthermore, there is absolutely nothing of value on the website, the meetings are not even announced. I don't think Lundberg has done a press release in months. Many current (and former) FRC members feel like the Italian foot soldiers in WWII--i.e., the generals and officers decide to surrender and start drinking wine and celebrating while the guys in the trenches get overrun wait for orders that are never going to come.
I think the fact that no one challenged Lundberg says more about the general disgust among all of us with the FRC.
