Former Board Chairman Dies UPDATED

Former Fairfax Board Chairman Jack Herrity passed away this morning.. As the man who lead Fairfax through population growth and change as Chairman of the County, who later ran against Michelle Bryckner for Chair in '03, and against current FCRC Chairman Eric Lundberg for Party Chair-Jack Herrity has done amazing things for Fairfax and the Republican Party. The Fairfax County Parkway, and even a building at the Government Center(or Davis Taj Mahal) bear his name. I have had the honor or meeting Mr.Herrity and few times, and always found him to be personable and upbeat. As I understand it-he had even publicly announced to take on Connolly in '07. I will post funeral arrangements when I receive them. This is a sad day for Fairfax County. UPDATE:From the Fairfax County GOP Website Visitation will be on Friday 3rd at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home at 9902 Braddock Rd, Fairfax - phone # is (703) 425-9702, hours 1-4 and 6-9 PM. The funeral will be on Saturday, 4th at 11:30 AM at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church at 7600 Old Keene Mill Rd, Springfield. Phone (703) 451-8576.

Both the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate are adjourning today in honor and memory of Mr. Herrity. It is indeed a sad loss. My prayers are with his family.

Mr. Herrity was a great guy and always stayed involved with the various campiagns around the county and truly cared about the GOP. This is a huge loss.

I was always amazed at how active Jack was after his heart transplant. My recollection is that he very much beat the odds by surviving so long after that major operation. He will be missed.

Perhaps one of the best ways that we can honor his memory is by restoring the GOP to its former glory during his heyday.

Win one for Jack....

Want to hear some slander.

This from Delgaudio's recent email:

"Some people think I modeled my political style after Jack Herrity. Herrity is the former Chairman of the board of supervisors in Fairfax. He started out as a lone Republican and then led a Republican takeover of the Fairfax board. I was honored by a friendship with Mr. Herrity going back to 1986."

Mr. Delgaudio your no Jack Herrity.

I knew Jack Herrity, I served with Jack Herrity. Eugene Delgaudio, you're not Jack Herrity.
